Best DIY Home Security Systems
Home security has never been this easy.

We were interested in finding some of the coolest and most user-friendly smart home security systems on the market, so we looked at a number of indoor and outdoor systems and compiled a list of our favorites.

Canary Flex Indoor/Outdoor Security Camera

Canary first introduced their Smart Security Camera in 2013. The Canary Flex is the company’s newest product, having just been released this year. One of the coolest things about this camera is that it has the unique ability to function both as an indoor and outdoor camera, since it is designed to withstand some pretty extreme weather.

Blink XT Weatherproof Wireless Camera

The Blink XT Weatherproof Wireless Camera has changed a bit since its previous model. One thing that we thought was pretty sweet about this camera was that it has infrared night vision, so you’re going to be able to see whatever the camera detects in the dark pretty well.

Remocam Smart Home Security Camera

What can we say, Remocam Smart Home Security Camera certainly has personality! The Remocam is also an IR control blaster, so you can remotely connect your Remocam to your smart TV and control it right from your phone.

CleverLoop Smart Video Security System

Whoever thought of the CleverLoop Smart Video Security System really thought of everything. This is the only security system that we looked at that has geofencing, which means that instead of recording somebody walking on the sidewalk in front of your house and taking up precious storage space, the system will “know” when to record and when not to. Talk about smart! As a great man used to say, “But wait, there’s more!”--the CleverLoop Smart Video Security System features unlimited download time, which is unique to this system (at least when compared to the other systems we looked at).

Ring Video Doorbell

The Ring Video Doorbell is a pretty clever idea. It’s a doorbell with a camera built into it. It has the option of being either battery or doorbell wiring powered. The problem with this camera is that it doesn’t have IFTTT integration. Hopefully the Ring Video doorbell will have this feature added on future versions.

Well there you have it, folks! We hope that this helped you narrow down your search for a smart home security camera system! Let us know your thoughts @GetUnboxed on Twitter.
