With the Xbox One X set to come out at the beginning of next month, I think it’s time to take a look at what to expect from the console. I’ll also be taking a look at whether it is worth it or not to upgrade to the new system.
For most console gamers, the quality of the game on the screen is not nearly as important as it is for PC gamers. There just isn’t the same amount of customization available and games on console tend to be locked to certain resolutions and framerates anyway. That being said, playing console games in 4K HDR is something graphics nuts like myself will enjoy, and the One X is definitely an upgrade here from the Xbox One and One S.
This isn’t so much an argument about which version of the Xbox is better, but more of a “PS4 vs Xbox” argument, one that I absolutely hate making. As someone who owns both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One S, I can firmly say that both games have excellent choices when it comes to new exclusive games to play. I do think PlayStation has a slight advantage here, but Xbox owners won’t be disappointed.
Is it worth it?
If I had to give an answer without actually playing the console myself, I would have to say no. While Xbox does have a nice selection of games, the hardware just doesn’t seem like enough of an upgrade from the One S to justify such an insane price. The One S will be going down in price when the X comes out, so my recommendation for folks looking to buy an Xbox would be to go with the S.
