It’s been another great week in the world of gaming, with Destiny 2 impressing old and new fans alike and another Nintendo Direct bringing us more information on what’s coming to the Switch. Let's take a look at some of the highlights from this week.
While Bungie got quite a few things wrong with the original Destiny, Raids and Trials of Osiris were examples of things Bungie got right in the original. The sequel, Destiny 2, has improved on pretty much everything wrong with the first game and even found a way to make both the Raids and Trials even better.
Reactions to the latest Nintendo Direct boil down to two categories. Either you are a Nintendo fan who is pleased with the direction things are going, or you are a Nintendo skeptic who refuses to bow down to the greatne… ok, but seriously, this Direct had a ton of new footage from games like Super Mario Odyssey (Mario nipples confirmed) and Project Octopath Traveler that should have every Switch owner hyped. They are even still announcing new 3DS games for 2018, showing that Nintendo does not not plan on giving up on the platform any time soon.
Metroid: Samus Returns
While the latest Metroid game didn’t do anything to revolutionize the series, it does have fans, myself included, very excited for the potential future of the franchise. Metroid: Samus Returns is a game definitely worth checking out and who knows, maybe if sales are good we could see a new Metroid game on the Nintendo Switch in the near future.
